Get to know Diyla

I love discovering and sharing beautiful music and the stories and context that accompany those sounds. If I can help just one person find a new piece of music that resonates in some way, shape or form, then I feel like I’ve done my job.

Outside of RTRFM, I love pigeons, spending my disposable income on records, making music and sometimes throwing a ball into a hoop.

How did you become involved in the station?

I’d been a guest on the station as a musician a few times, but when I joined Connor Kiss for a guest mix on Global Rhythm Pot and got behind the desk, I felt the RTRFM gods summoning me.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

Some standouts have to be Ebo Taylor at Freo Social in 2024, Anderson .Paak’s surprise show at Jack Rabbit Slim’s in 2019 and Letlive at Soundwave festival in 2012 (the gig that changed my perspective and the way I thought about live music).
