Bookclub with Danielle Raffaele

Following the success of her debut poetry collection, Drop Bear, Goorie and Koorie writer Evelyn Araluen didn’t think she would necessarily publish poetry again but shifts in geopolitics and social changes on the home front compelled her to pick up the pen once more.

The result is The Rot, an unflinching study of the decaying romances, expired hopes and abject injustices of the world; from genocide, to gender, bad landlords and listening to Mitski in the bath, the collection cuts through the apathy of online life and gets to the heart of living during a time of fascism, enshittificaton and ethnic cleansing.

RTRFMs Danielle Raffaele spoke with Evelyn following the release of the collection and started by asking why she decided to write another poetry collection.
