Yehser (YATTAMAN)

Music has been a massive part of my life. Playing the drums growing up, and then falling in love with electronic music when I was old enough to go out – spending countless nights on dancefloors until the early morning. My love for the music, culture and dancing progressed into DJing, and I became involved with the Perth drum and bass scene throughout my 20’s.

Towards the end of my 20’s, I spent a couple of years abroad, and expanded my musical taste and interests significantly. I grew particularly fond of music from Latin America, listening to salsa and cumbia when I returned to Australia brought back so many fond memories of my time living in Colombia, and something about the wild percussion resonated with me, maybe it has something to do with my love for a chopped up amen break. I set off on a journey of collecting records, which is something I’m still passionate about today.

I’ve been a longtime listener of RTR, my favourite shows being Global Rhythm Pot and Full Frequency. I love the local community aspect of RTR. I feel incredibly appreciative for all the hard working presenters, who have introduced me to so much great music. I’m stoked to now be able to do the same for others in my community. Outside of music, I love to spend time with friends and family, sharing good meals, riding my mountain bike out in the hills, and a good baked good, coffee and walk around Hyde Park!
