Fish and Chip concept album from Aus artist Possum

On RTR’s folk & country program Middle of Nowhere, Clare Goodridge chatted with Naarm-based artist Kizzy Davies about her solo project, Possum, and the upcoming release of her latest album, ‘Paynesville Seafoods.’

Set for release on October 9th, 2026, ‘Paynesville Seafoods’ is described as a ‘fish and chip shop concept album’ which centers around the town of Paynesville on Gunaikurnai Country on the Gippsland Lakes. The record ambitiously modernises the tradition of storytelling in folk song, creating an overarching story line on multiple timescales that threads throughout the 9 tracks on the album. Over the course of one short summer, children grow up and leave home, hardworking men grow old and die.
