Say hello to

Dave Cooper

I love having the opportunity to listen and learn about new kinds of music – and then being able to share them with our listeners.

About

Get to know Dave Cooper

I have been presenting programs on RTR for most of its life – including 6UWA-FM, starting off with the legendary reggae program Vershun Galore and progressing through various iterations of Global Rhythm Pot to Sunday Morning Coming Down. My musical interests range from reggae (of course!) through world music, jazz, electro, and soul to country.

I reckon Sunday Morning is the best program in the world because its presenter collective covers so many musical bases that are unexplored anywhere else – except on RTR, of course! And, of course, it’s a lifelong learning process for the presenters as well…

How did you become involved in the station?

I originally worked the desk for the Jazz and Saturday afternoon shows on 6UVS-FM and gradually progressed to presenting shows – in particular, Vershun Galore, Perth’s first reggae program.

From there I progressed to the various world music shows as well as developing a love for the more eclectic atmosphere of Sunday Morning Coming Down.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

The first Glastonbury Festival to be held at Worthy Farm. 2000 people attended and we all had a ball in the one field that was used!

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

Global Rhythm Pot; Giant Steps; Drastic on Plastic; Jamdown Version
