About

Get to know Meri

I studied broadcasting at WAAPA after several years in community radio both at RTRFM and at stations in NSW. Then I worked at ABC Perth as a producer before going freelance. Outside of the station I chair public conversations and run my network WA Climate Leaders.

How did you become involved in the station?

I joined RTRFM in 2000 and my first show like most beginners was overnight. I volunteered in the office and did a smattering of Out to Lunch shows before joining the Drastic on Plastic Collective which I co-ordinated from 2005-2023.

For a few years I was a regular presenter on Morning Magazine – an earlier iteration of On the Record. Presenting that show gave me so many opportunities to connect into our amazing arts and music scene, but also the chance to follow stories that have meant a lot to me, like the native title stoush between the Yindjibarndi and Andrew Forrest’s FMG.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

Leftfield Perth Festival 2016. I know I crushed some feet with all the jumping up and down.

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

I’m an unabashed fan of Full Frequency, Drivetime and Breakfast with Pam
