Say hello to

Razor Jack

( He/ Him )

A guitar-toting music nut with a passion for sounds of a bygone era!

About

Get to know Razor

I grew up in the UK with early punk – but quickly found myself drawn to bands that had their own distinctive sound, like Siouxsie & the Banshees. I caught the bug too and started playing guitar in Sydney band Toys Went Berserk, back in the 80s.

I got turned onto the rockin’ sounds of the 50s when I stumbled upon a tiny record shop in London called “Sounds That Swing” – that started an addiction for records that spans many styles and is hopelessly out of control!

I’m very lucky now that music is my job. l play guitar in a bunch of different bands, including Bang Bang Betty & the H-Bombs, the Pick Me Ups & Red’s Tribe; DJ regularly at the Hula Bula Bar and teach music when no-one’s looking.

How did you become involved in the station?

Rock Rattle & Roll got in touch because of my involvement in the local rockin’ scene. As a regular listener for many years, it sounded like fun and I’ve been with the station since 2011. It’s great to have the chance to share some of the records I love – and the freedom to put together a show that includes tunes that haven’t been flogged to death elsewhere.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

The wildest gigs I’ve played have been in Japan, from Rocket To Memphis’ first date in Tokyo, at Club Heavy Sick in 2010, to the joyous insanity of the annual Back From The Grave Halloween Ball. An experience never to be forgotten!
