About

Get to know Austin Salisbury

I’m a fan of the full spectrum of ‘jazz’ genres, from the early bebop records through to the modern stuff coming out of New York, Europe and right here in Aus. I love sitting down and putting together two hours of music that showcases this huge variety in the music and sharing it with like-minded listeners on RTR.

How did you become involved in the station?

I joined the Saturday Jazz collective a few years after meeting Warren Kimble at an RTR event. He mentioned they were looking for new presenters and his passion for the program and the music really inspired me to get involved.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

Nothing beats the Courtyard Club gig RTR puts on each year in colab with Perth Jazz Festival. I’ve been lucky enough to play it twice (MELVE in 2019 and Matt Smith’s ‘Driftwood’ in 2023), and the atmosphere in the open air venue playing to a great crowd has been a big highlight in my gigging career.

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

I love catching Rock, Rattle and Roll – especially when DJ Razor Jack is spinning tunes.

Love music?

Love RTRFM.
