About

Get to know Hugo

I love creating innovative projects, like hosting world music shows. In Portugal, I was the friend tuned into alternative radio stations like XFM, Radar, and Oxigénio. Born in Lisboa and raised in Amadora, I was exposed early to vibrant rhythmic sounds. I’m excited to share with RTR listeners music like Mozambican marrabenta, Cape Verde morna, Brazilian samba, and Angolan kuduro.

After listening to RTRFM, I applied to share my passion for Lusophone music and presented Global Rhythm Pot for over a year. The best part is the sense of community and the mission to play innovative music from around the world.

How did you become involved in the station?

After being a RTRFM listener for a couple of months, I saw one day the “submit a new program” info and, immediately, felt that it was the right time to share with Australian listeners my Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking countries) music passion. I applied with the Lusophone Beats show idea and got a phone call the next month! I presented Global Rhythm Pot on Saturday mornings for over one year.

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?
