Dan Garner

Musician and music lover from WA. Lover of all styles, but Jazz feels like home!

About

Get to know Dan Garner

Dan currently resides in Bayswater, but originally came from the wheatbelt. He became interested in the station after being relaxed by the dulcet tones of Matt Perrett early in the morning, while driving to the pharmacy to pick up more Ventolin to help with his asthma attack. A life saving set, you could say. After conversing with local hero Gemma Farrell, he took on the RTR presenters course and has been presenting on Saturday Jazz ever since.

Outside of the station Dan is a Guitarist, Guitar Teacher and an avid Dockers fan. He really enjoys anything with a strong sense of community and loves live music, especially for that reason. Perth is blessed with so many artists that are so supportive and hard working and RTR is a great way to showcase some of this brilliance!

How did you become involved in the station?

After conversations with Gemma Farrell really. I was able to meet the previous coordinator for Saturday Jazz, Warren Kimble, and he talked with great love about the community at the station. He made me feel welcome, and wanted to know that when he passed the torch that the station was moving in the right direction. While there has been a lot of change in Jazz music the spirit of the local scene shines brightly, as it has for a long time. I owe a lot to Gemma for this!
