What to expect
RTRFM’s taking over Northbridge’s newest live music venue, The Boston, on Saturday, 17 October with Boston Boogie!
Boston Boogie! promises a night of rollicking rock ‘n’ roll, old-school garage, ‘60s psych and smooth soul sounds, with live sets from Perth soul quintet Boom! Bap! Pow!, ‘60s psych-garage gurus The High Learys and retro rockin’ newcomers Catzilla.
Ever-lovable ‘rock ‘n’ soul’ merchants Boom! Bap! Pow! know how to work a crowd the old fashioned way. Give them a stage to jive on and an audience to play to, and Boom! Bap! Pow! will deliver the goods, with an energetic live show and oodles of charisma.
The ‘60s are alive and well in local four-piece The High Learys. The band have been busy of late, releasing their latest single Letters to Alice and taking out a respectable third place at the The Big Splash Grand Final in August.
Catzilla have made their entrance into the local music scene known with their self-described ‘perfect party music for interstellar go-go gals and giant cat monsters’. Inspired by the crazy Japanese monster B-movies and garage sounds of the ‘60s, the band’s fuzzed-out sounds are powered by rumbling bass, snarling guitar, kooky keys and jungle drums.
With DJ Charlie Bucket – he of Global Rhythm Pot and El Ritmo fame – and Soulsides DJs Super J versus Microgroove and Safari versus Foxman on the decks ‘til late, this is one party you won’t want to miss.
