What to expect
RTRFM are heading down the highway, toward the coast, and settling in the portside town of Fremantle once again for the ninth annual Fremantle Winter Music Festival.
FWMF 2015 will display the talents of 24 incredible West Australian bands plus a selection of DJs across five iconic Fremantle live music venues on Saturday, 27 June, from 7pm ‘til late.
Rug up and brace yourself for the icy breath of the Freo Doctor as your wander through the streets of North Fremantle, stopping in at Mojo’s Bar, North Fremantle Bowls Club, the Railway Hotel, the Swan Hotel and Swan Basement for musical refreshment.
One ticket gets you 24 live acts plus a handful of DJs selected by RTRFM across five stages!
Head toward the ocean to North Fremantle’s old faithful – the Railway Hotel – where you can swaddle yourself in guitars courtesy of Dianas, French Rockets, Koi Child, Sugar Army and Tired Lion.
Traipse over Stirling Highway to the North Fremantle Bowls Club and enjoy a hearty helping of blues, alt-country and rock and roll from Datura4, The Floors, Huge Magnet, Old Blood and Stoney Joe.
For folk, alt-pop and stripped-back sounds, the Swan Hotel Lounge is your destination, where Edie Green, Flooded Palace, Hayley Beth, Laurel Fixation and Patient Little Sister will provide the soundtrack to a winter’s eve.
Descend the stairs to the Swan Hotel and cocoon yourself in the warm, cave-like surrounds of the Swan Basement. Enter a kaleidoscopic, reverb-filled world of psych and shoegaze with Dream Rimmy, Golden Slums, Jimmy Chang, Mt. Mountain and Dream Jimmy DJs.
Experience some of Perth’s most interesting experimental, electronic and ambient soundsmiths at Mojo’s Bar, with sets from Leon Osborn, Mudlark, Ourobonic Plague, Sam Atkin and Spirit Level.
Or nestle into the Mojo’s Courtyard, where RTRFM DJs Alex Griffin (Out To Lunch), Britt Day (Out To Lunch) and Coel Healy (Golden Apples, El Ritmo) will share their eclectic musical tastes on the decks ‘til late.
Much like the city of Fremantle itself, Fremantle Winter Music Festival has a rich history. Established in 2007, the Festival quickly cemented itself as a cornerstone of RTRFM’s event program, attracting over 1,000 live music lovers annually.
