HERSTORY ON RTRFM: Annette Howard

Not a lot of people just stumble into owning a piggery, but Annette Howard did.

Around 25 years ago, Annette entered the pork industry with her husband and describes it as a  “seven days a week, 365 days a year” job – she’d just moved from the city and that was the end of it. The couple now have more than 20 000 pigs on their 1763 hectare property and she is on the Pork Industry Training Committee of WA, working to maintain quality in the industry.

Alongside her busy life on the farm, Howard has been an active Country Women’s Association member for 32 years. Passionately involved in scouting, she has been a cub scout leader and is now the Scouts WA branch commissioner for adult training – adding up to a total of 32 years of involvement so far.

In this episode of HERSTORY on RTRFM, Annette Howard speaks to Taylah Strano about contiki to a piggery, scouts and the love of volunteering for your community.
