16 year old, Cleveland Dodd passed away after self-harming in his cell at the youth Unit 18 wing of Perth’s maximum-security Casuarina Prison, in October 2023.

Cleveland‘s death was the first documented death in a youth detention facility in Western Australia and prompted an investigation by the CCC.

The team discuss the matter over recent inquest for the closure of Unit 18.
