Indymedia on RTRFM – 21 June 2021

This week, the long-suffering Murugappan family were put into community detention in Perth while their daughter Tharunicaa undergoes medical treatment. The Biloela family have been detained in immigration centres for almost four years, despite the please of their rural Queensland community. The Indymedia team were at one of the rallies in support of the Biloela family, and we hear the voices of supporters on the ground.

Indymedia were offered some personal insight into the WA homelessness crisis this week, speaking to Maria, an Indigenous woman from Albany who experienced homelessness while living in Perth. She speaks to Jesse Noakes about the connections between trauma, displacement, and homelessness.

The team also caught up with Extinction Rebellion activists  to discuss last week’s AAPEA conference.

Indymedia covers left-wing politics and stories overlooked by mainstream media outlets. Offering news and views from a network of grassroots activists, Indymedia airs live at 11 every Monday on RTRFM 92.1.
