Indymedia on RTRFM – 5 July 2021

Today’s program hones in the ongoing homelessness crisis in WA, specifically focusing on how homelessness continues to impact Aboriginal people. Indymedia heard from Brendan Jones, a Noongar man who has spent the entire pandemic period on the streets in Perth. He’s faced evictions at the height of the crisis, and was forced to decamp to Northbridge in the torrential rain. He spoke to Indymedia Jesse Noakes about the impact on his health, his mental health, his family, and his spirit.

The Indymedia team also heard from Dorinda Cox, who’s the lead federal Senate candidate for the WA Greens and a Yamatji Noongar woman. She’s been working for some time as an advocate and in Health and Housing, especially for indigenous peoples.

Indymedia covers left-wing politics and stories overlooked by mainstream media outlets. Offering news and views from a network of grassroots activists, Indymedia airs live at 11 every Monday on RTRFM 92.1.
