Understorey: Climate 2018 ~Positively Renewable ACT
Western Australia is currently out of the game, with a globally-compared low renewable energy effort, and lacking any clearly defined plan on climate challenge So what would a positive renewable energy program look like, and could one help reset and benefit our economy? Understorey travels to the Australian Capital Territory to find out how ACT innovated its reverse auction for renewable electricity, and has attracted hundreds of millions of dollars in new economy investment, easily on track to have 100% renewable electricity by 2020, and still vigorously chasing a target of zero net emissions by 2050 (at the latest). Only a hundred metres or so from Canberra's new light rail construction, Understorey’s Adrian Glamorgan meets up with Antonio Mozqueria, Manager for Climate Change in the ACT, and Daniel Harding, Manager of Energy Markets and Energy Renewables, to see how its done.
