Understorey: Energising Climate Action Pt 2

In 2016-17, former South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill discovered how many marshalled forces from the fossil fuel lobby on one hand, and partisan politics on the other, would surely rise against anyone who championed renewable energy.  Weatherill  felt the renunciation of a prime minister, the lack of assistance or understanding from the national energy market, and the sinister forces of social media in play, so he took South Australia into its own quite separate energy plan.  This week Understorey finds out what happened next. Within a short time the technical inefficiencies of coal fire power plants, compared to the microsecond adeptness of large scale storage batteries, laid bare the myths of the industry, and pointed the rest of the country to the urgency and practicality of action on climate change.
