Understorey: Regenerating South West Agriculture (pt 1)

Jeff Pow decided to devote his efforts to saving a valley in the South West by rehabilitating a triple-heritage listed property that had fallen on hard times, just near Balingup.  However, the one-time manager of a mining company first had to contend with waterways choked with french blackberries, and a a pine plantation that had been razed, leaving pine debris thick on the ground.  Pow's self-made challenge was to restore the soils and grasses back into its original perennial pastures, to regenerate the land in ways that would also work with ecological principles.  Inspired by Peter Andrews, author of "Back from the Brink: How Australia's Landscape Can Be Saved", Pow gave all he had to give.  Regenerative agriculture seemed to be working. Then natural disaster struck.  (Image: A.Glamorgan, Supplied) RegeneratingSWAgpt1
