Get to know Dan D

I’ve been singing and playing in bands (WA, Melbourne, London) since the mid-90s – hard rock, garage-punk, doom metal, yacht rock and a few other things besides. But I also love me some country, folk, blues, psych, doo-wop, disco, garage rock. I first heard RTRFM in its earlier 6UVS guise while at boarding school, where my mind was blown apart by many genres that were a complete unknown to me. It’s early days for me as a presenter and the white-knuckle terror is slowly being superseded by genuine enjoyment.

How did you become involved in the station?

I completed the (excellent) RTRFM training course, did some co-hosting and took the presenting plunge!

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

My old band Three Orange Whips supported Fu Manchu back in 1998, which was epic. As a punter, too many to mention but seeing Electric Wizard (all seven times) was always mild-altering, Beasts Of Bourbon at Metros Freo early 90s, and Slayer (playing Reign In Blood in full) + Sleep + Wolves in the Throne Room + Melvins + YOB at the I’ll Be Your Mirror Festival in London, 2012. Hard to beat!

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

Rock Rattle & Roll and Burn The Airwaves.
