Get to know Darren

Born in the 70’s, grew up in the 80’s, partied in the 90’s. Built a career in finance in the 2000’s while getting married and having 3 children.

I’ve always been interested in the West Aussie live music scene so joining RTR to build on that passion has been very rewarding for me. I now present shows with my son Zane who has also developed a love for live music.

How did you become involved in the station?

After doing the married/kids/family stuff for 25 years, I had the urge to rediscover my passion of live music in Perth.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

There’s been plenty but the first ever live performance I went to as a young adult was Bon Jovi in 1989. Walking into the Entertainment Centre, the noise and the atmosphere is etched into my brain, sending me on my live music quest.

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

Homegrown. I must get onto the collective for that show.
