Get to know DJ Shortty

I was an occasional listener to Community Radio (in the car) since i moved to Australia 12 years ago but was working remotely (Communities & Hospitals), so I only really got to experience music in depth when I came to the city (mainly Mojos but other places)

How did you become involved in the station?

A friend on Christmas Island introduced me to Community Radio there. I held back for a long time – I was petrified – but eventually gave it a go and was hooked. I read about the RTRFM presenters course, and actually met a couple of presenters & wanted to learn more so enrolled on that. Never expected to actually do a show but had great fun on the course – so I would say “Have A Go!”

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

Pere Ubu & The Virgin Prunes Polytechnic of North London 1979. I dunno there were a lot of formative gigs around that time that made me realise up close that Pop Music could be something magical weird “arty” or otherworldly.
