Born, raised, educated and working in Western Australia, with several stints living in other parts of Australia which are great, but not as great as Perth. After years of being told I had a voice for radio, I decided to give it a try, and here I am at RTRFM discovering and showcasing incredibly talented musicians!

Get to know Stevie

I’m a Perth lad, born (1977 – same year as RTRFM emerged!) and raised, and now raising my family here with my awesome wife. We’ve lived around Australia in locations in SA and QLD and loved every one of those places, but Perth keeps on pulling us back. It must be the beaches – Perth definitely has the best beaches.

After years of being told I had a voice (face?) for radio, I decided to give it a try… and I love it! Discovering new musical talent whilst indulging my love for a melody and a beat, is just fantastic. There is so much musical talent here in WA and across Australia.

I also learnt to mix tunes as a DJ-for-hire back in the 90s as I went through university, then put that to one side to start a career. Some of the collectives at RTR give me a triple dose of goodness in being able to reignite my joy of mixing, discovering new musical talent, and announcing – what could be better?

How did you become involved in the station?

2022 = “Why not do the presenters course to learn a thing or two?” = Love it!

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

Big Day Out 1996 Perth – Rage Against the Machine moshpit. By far the most energetic moshpit I ever experienced with the incredible RATM raising the crowd into a frenzy in a way only they could do. I saw my life flash before my eyes as a stumbled and fell to the ground during “Take the Power Back” with the crowd jumping and surging as I swallowed a lot of dust and dirt – but the kindness of my fellow mosh-members managed to get me back to my feet amongst the chaos. Phew!
