Say hello to

Eddie Electric

I like weird synthesiser music. I make audio. I do both at RTRFM. It is nice.

About

Get to know Eddie

I cut my teeth DJing in the local Indie scene in the late ‘00s and better part of the ‘10s. In 2013, I became a presenter at RTRFM, joining the Homegrown crew soon after, and then going on to become the Collective Coordinator. The opportunity to volunteer as a Production Assistant came up in 2017 and a year later I took over the role as the station’s Production Manager, allowing me to work behind the scenes creating all kinds of Audio. I’ve since passed on the Homegrown baton and now present peer2peer!

The thing I love most about RTRFM is having a space where I can be my genuine weirdo self and share all the bizarrely wonderful musical discoveries I make with like-minded people. It also allows me to pursue my creative interests, work in my chosen field and provide a platform for people who want to do the same.

When I’m not at the station, I’m nerding out over synthesisers and video games, and sharing my love of music with my two kids.

How did you become involved in the station?

I began presenting in 2013 after being urged by a friend who was a member of staff at the time. I was DJing around town and it felt like a natural progression.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

On the barrier for Nine Inch Nails at the 2000 Big Day Out. I was 13 & it was my first gig ever. My older Brother & I waited hours in 40° heat to make sure we were front & centre and, along with heatstroke, I left with a signed key from one of the synths they smashed up on stage. The experience was a defining moment of my formative years and is the benchmark for all other gigs I’ve been to.

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

It’s forever changing, but Full Freq, Bass Check & Rhythm Trippin’ are up there, as are Golden Apples & Ambient Zone. Out to Lunch is always a great source for discovering new tunes as well.

Love music?

Love RTRFM.
