About

Get to know Emily

I love getting to know all sorts of people and exploring the venn diagrams of music tastes. No ‘genre’ is off-limits as I find this extremely restrictive and you never know what musical element is gonna grab you regardless of the context! All music has Bla(c)k roots and this understanding underscores every (music) experience I find myself in.

Outside RTRFM I design & facilitate learning, camp, hike, enjoy art spaces ++. I first heard about RTRFM in the early 2000’s and couldn’t believe there was a place for cool music away from the grip of the commercial radio mainstream- praise be!

How did you become involved in the station?

Enquired about the course as everyone always commented on my unique voice, a couple of years later I actually bit the bullet & thought I’d finally put it to good use.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

So so many… unfair question! In terms of big artists, Prince and Jill Scott were bangers. Then millions more local shows and while travelling always stumble upon amazing gigs.

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

Full Frequency, Soul Sides, Black and Blue, Middle of Nowhere etcetc!
