Say hello to

Inayah

I dream of one day living off the grid in the countryside with some chooks and a cat for company, only venturing out for supplies.

About

Get to know Inayah

I love presenting because I get to explore all this wonderful music by local, Boorloo-based artists, I have especially valued broadening my horizons and enjoying so much amazing First Nations music that I otherwise wouldn’t have been exposed to. RTRFM’s music catalogue and sound selection is honestly so freaking diverse and Matt Perrett & team do a phenomenal job selecting and curating it. Also, I love it when I play something very personal and close to my heart, and a listener gets in touch to tell me how much they enjoyed that song – it makes my night (or morning)!

How did you become involved in the station?

I contacted Chris about becoming a volunteer after a friend told me about how they got involved, and how amazing it was to be a part of something local, independent, with the freedom and diversity to provide an alternative voice for Perth – how can I not be excited about that?

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

Hard to say, admittedly I haven’t been to many, but one gig that always stands out to me is Soundwave 2010 when I got to see Faith No More, Anthrax, Jimmy Eat World, Placebo and Jane’s Addiction. Talk about a dream come true! I recently had the pleasure of witnessing Mike Patton and Scott Ian perform again when Mr Bungle came to Perth in March 2024 – at that point I’d waited 20 years to see the band in concert so it was like I’d died and gone to The Good Place.

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

Global Rhythm Pot – I absolutely adore it!

Love music?
