Get to know Isla Tomlinson
Originally from Down South and once sporting a “country accent”, from a young age I was taught classical piano, did ballet lessons and would often come up to Perth to see the Western Australian Ballet perform. Whilst I was never too good at the dancing part, my dad somehow managed to get involved with the local theatre company which was my segue into acting, fueling a new and vibrant passion which eventually carried me over to WAAPA to study the craft!
However, the more I studied acting the more I ended up falling out of love with it, I wanted something more real and tangible – something that was more human. I realised journalism is storytelling – but more real!! This put me down the path of studying journalism and pursuing this as a career, ultimately leading me to RTRFM and reading news on Breakfast with Pam.. and now presenting!
Outside of the station I love fashion and clothes and often spend all my money on it, I love creating whether this be in life draws or simply using my words or my hands to mould, stitch, knit or write something. I also love wine and drinking wine with my girlfriends.
