Get to know Mark Neal
RTRFM is one of the greatest musical communities in the world. A platform for voices to be heard sharing art in all its forms.
I started my musical journey in Denmark/Albany as a musician and moved to Perth when I finished high school. During my music education we had a TAFE excursion to RTRFM and i instantly fell in love with the place. Something about it made me curious, and after years of listening and learning about the most exciting musical genres the world has to offer, i became a presenter. At first i was part of the ‘Homegrown’ collective, wen’t on to host ‘Out To Lunch’ for 6 years and currently work on podcasts.
When I’m not contributing to RTRFM I play in a few bands around Perth, they are called Odlaw and Sugar Wife. I run a boutique label called Blue Grey Pink, and manage the musical careers of Angie Colman and Noah Dillon. Over the years i’ve worked on a number of festivals such as Hyper Festival, WAMFest, and Way Way West. I’m lucky to make a living booking events and managing.
RTRFM is such an important part of my career, meeting like minded people, getting insight into the best music coming out of WA, and being surrounded by music obsessed humans like myself. I love being able to share things I love on radio and podcasts, and the RTRFM community makes me want to get better at it and learn more.
