I grew up in Denmark/Albany, WA. Travelled between the two for school each day and spent several hours with earplugs in avoiding eye contact with other people. This eventually lead to me chasing music as a career, and when I moved to Perth, RTRFM became a huge resource for music, news and all round good times.
How did you become involved?
Playing in various musical acts around WA introduced me to the station. After my first interview in 2009 I kind always hoped I could one day be a part of the sound alternative. Early in 2012 I submitted an idea into the station committee and they began training me up as a presenter.
If stuck on Mars, what five albums could you not go without?
- Brand New – Devil In God Are Raging Inside Me
- Red Jezebel – Coupe De Grace
- METZ – METZ
- Pat Chow – Are You Alright?
- Bruce Springsteen – Darkness on the Edge of Town
What is the best thing about being involved with the station?
Music, and the people who play it. The variety in genre and tastes on this station is inspiring. I always hear awesome tunes playing all day.
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you in the RTRFM studio?
I got struck by an hour-long violent hiccup session on Homegrown once. I hid it pretty well, played lots of seven-minute bangers.
If you could present a show that is not your own, which show would it be? Why?
I really enjoy Global Rhythm Pot, mostly listen to it on my way to the studio for Homegrown and it always puts me in a good mood.
What do you do in real life?
Music stuff. Work on a bunch of events, play in bands, and help out a few bands through my Blue Grey Pink label.
