Get to know Mat

Outside of RTRFM I love growing veges, writing songs, hanging with my family, skating and cruising the WA Coastline. I love the feeling of spinning songs on the airwaves and especially I love to crank the studio speakers while I do it. Over the years they have become a place I like to reference the mix of many a favourite or newly released tune.

I keep coming back to present because I always leave the RTRFM building with smile and fresh feeling of awesome. Most of the time I am selecting tunes as I go and I love selecting what should go next even if it doesn’t always come off, although mostly it’s cool. It’s a little like the world disappears in the studio on a Sunday arvo

How did you become involved in the station?

I found myself doing the presenters course due to the crew of Rocking The Roots Presenters around 2015 just kept urging me to do it and I am so glad I did. I love volunteering at events and getting to RTR Gigs when I can…

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

Had a couple of cracker shows at the Winter Music Festival myself and best memory is Peter Bibby in the rain at In The Pines ( plenty of other great memories as well but hey …)
