Say hello to

Pamela Boland

( She/Her )

I’m the producer and presenter of RTRFM’s Breakfast show, soundtracking and yapping 6-9am weekdays. I’m professionally nosy, pretty loud and always looking for new and exciting ways to talk about music and art.

About

Get to know Pamela Boland

As a chronically sticky kid I could be found clinging to a pink Walkman (spinning a very scratched Barbie Pool Party Mix) and the latest issue of Total Girl, which would really come to be a bit of a forecast, a love for magazines and music sticking around.

In more recent (less sticky) times I’ve worked between media and arts scenes locally and across the pond writing, curating, talking and shutter pressing. I’ve got a Bachie degree in Journalism and co-founded Love Letters Zine; an independent publication dedicated to women and gender non-conforming folks in the music industry, which published annual editions from Boorloo and London.

Now, in my DREAM job as RTRFM’s Breakfast host it’s my absolute pleasure and priority to platform the diverse voices of WA’s music scene and make space for the stories for and about our place.

When I’m not on the radio, you can find me snapping photos of friends, obsessing over print media or swaying (read: crying) at a soppy folk gig.

How did you become involved in the station?

I started out on the Talks Team at RTRFM in 2021, volunteering as a presenter and producer for On The Record. Now, I set the alarm a bit earlier…

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

It’s been raining on Brecon Beacons in Wales, I’m drenched and stand cold hand in cold hand with my best friends from home as Julia Jacklin echoes into the big beautiful valley of Green Man Festival.

As the whole crowd yells every word, the rain eases to a sprinkle and the sun comes out creating rainbows over the stage and the rolling green hills that stuck around for her whole set. Ridiculous.

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

Drastic on Plastic and the Sovereign podcast are the faves right this second, but it’s always changing!

Love music?

Love RTRFM.
