Say hello to

Twillo

Born and raised here on Noongar Boodja, I grew up immersed in the alternative sounds coming in and out of Perth and has since inspired my contribution through DJing and production.

About

Get to know Twillo

Music is a universal force that can be expressed in endless forms, across all cultures in many spaces and times. It has the power to tug at the most human of emotions and it’s for these reasons that I love to share the sounds that have found me with the community. When I’m not out working in the lovely bushlands of Noongar Boodja I’m usually tinkering with beats and bits of gear in the studio, testing out different sounds, looking for new sounds and mixing them all together.

Weekends you will likely catch me bopping to a local Dj from which we are spoilt for choice here in Boorloo and Walyalup. I first heard RTR on the radio growing up and my first impressions were that it played strange music guaranteed not to be heard on other stations, but it felt so authentic with so many passionate presenters. I think I really fell in love with RTR when I first heard full frequency presented by the enigmatic Rok Riley herself on a Friday, the weekend of Radiothon which was falling on my birthday that weekend and I decided to call up to share the love which was gifted back 10 times over and still continues to spread to this day.

How did you become involved in the station?

Volunteering initially, becoming a member and eventually completing the course to allow me to present.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

That is a hard question, probably when the late, great Amp Fiddler performed live at Si Paradiso. An original member of Parliament/Funkadelic with an amazing voice and the funkiest of souls stole the show in his motor city overalls. A true honour to see such a figure who inspired so many and played a key role in connecting Q-Tip and J Dilla.

What is your favourite show (other than your own) on RTRFM?

Full Frequency, Trainwreck, Jamdown Vershun.

Love music?
