I have always loved music, I was brought up listening to Silverchair, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine etc. I soon progressed onto artists like Ty Segall and White Fence, Thee Oh Sees and more local bands like Pond and even King Gizzard. Music, Live or Produced has been the only constant i can rely on in my life.
Since tuning into RTRfm not even 3 years ago my world has been opened up to so many new and wonderful areas of music and I have all the time in the world to share what I’ve found with anyone who would be interested.
How did you become involved in the station?
A few friends have been working or presenting at RTRfm that I know about, because I would talk about the station quite a lot. After the third or fourth suggestion from them to get involved I finally put my name in for the presenters course and never looked back.
What is the best thing about being involved in the station?
The sense of community you feel, even doing the later shifts and doing a little volunteering here and there is phenomenal. I’ve met so many different people from me in and around the station and we all have something in common and can talk and relate.
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you at RTRFM?
I don’t know if this would quite qualify as strange but whilst doing Up Late and Snooze Button shows I’ve been contacted by quite a few people I haven’t talked to or heard anything about in years, people I worked with or went to primary school with. Hearing from anyone was quite a shock but hearing from people I actually knew and knowing they were listening at those times was WEIRD but also really nice.
If you could present a show other than your own, which would it be and why?
I’d be very interested in presenting Posted and I hope I will be soon!
What do you do in real life?
I work as a delivery driver for Toyota mostly, have studied audio engineering and occasionally produce music and play music, and I’ll be studying again soon in the area of mental health.
