Get to know Yikes

I love the community that surrounds RTRFM. The staff, the presenters, the cracker messages that come through the text line and the great yarns with those who call in. It’s such a pleasure to share music with the community through this station.

How did you become involved in the station?

Like all of us on the RTRFM airwaves, I went through the radio training course after a slight push from some close friends and radio presenters at the time. Rok Riley invited me on her show one week way back and the feeling of being in that studio, sharing tunes and being silly just stuck with me.

Tell us about your most memorable gig, either attending or playing at?

I’ve been lucky to say that over the last year I’ve player at some of the biggest festivals in the country, from Pitch to Sun Cycle and a Boiler Room in Sydney (which was terrifying tbh). My favourite so far would be Inner Varnika (RIP). A ~2000 people festival that had community at the heart. A lot of Perth crew went over for it and it felt so warm and welcoming despite the mud and frost bite. We were lucky to get the cars out of the festival and back on the plane home in time. Some great memories for sure.
