A Language of Limbs with Dylin Hardcastle

What if two lives almost kissed over the course of a lifetime?

That’s the premise of A Language of Limbs, the 2024 novel by Australian author Dylin Hardcastle, which follows the parallel lives of two women journeying down opposing paths – limb one leading a queer life full of joy and pain; limb two, a life of conventional heteronormativity, haunted by the question of ‘what if she escaped with the girl next door’.

It’s a gripping and heartfelt story about love and how it’s policed, queer bodies and spaces, friendship and joy in the face of heartbreak, spanning the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

All Things Queer presenter Kendall Buckley spoke with Dylin in depth about the novel and started by chatting about the inspiration behind the story.
