Ash Digs embraces vulnerability ahead of RTRFM’s Fremantle Winter Music Festival

Local singer, songwriter, producer & multi-instrumentalist Ash Digs has reached the next chapter on his cosmic musical journey, with the first EP of this new project, Tapes of You ahead of his performance at the RTRFM Fremantle Winter Music Festival.

Ash Digs is the artistic alias of Ash Hosken, who for over a decade established himself as a fixture on the local scene, releasing beloved music as Diger Rokwell and Rokwell & Groom, a collaboration with Felicity Groom.

This first EP as Ash Digs sees Hosken exploring themes of truth and honesty from an emotional and relatable perspective, with the five tracks of the EP largely exploring the five stages of grief — denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

Exploring these themes, Ash found his voice both literally and metaphorically, with Ash Digs being his first foray into singing.

He joins Taylah on Breakfast to chat about the evolution of his music and the building blocks of his new EP.

Ash will play his second-ever show next weekend at the Fremantle Winter Music Festival 2023 at Port Beach Brewery.
