Australian Arts Sector Barely Raising a Whisper

The Australian Arts Sector employs a whopping 200,000 people and contributes around $14 billion dollars to the National Economy.

It also delivers a substantial return on investment both in employment and flow-own expenditure.

Despite its economic credentials and the profound impact COVID has had on the sector the arts has barely raised a whisper in the election campaign.

Academic Jo Caust from the University of Melbourne joined On The Record to discuss the situation, following her recently published piece in The Conversation advocating for a federal ministry of culture and a national cultural plan.
