Bassist and composer Nick Abbey chats new creative horizons

Nick Abbey is a prominent name in the Western Australian contemporary and jazz music scene. The bassist and composer, who moved to Boorloo from Naarm in 2006, boasts an impressive repertoire of accolades, including four WAM Jazz Song of the Year awards, as well as collaborations with national and international luminaries.

His main creative project is his eponymous trio, an ensemble between Nick and long-time collaborators Chris Foster and Daniel Susnjar.

Nick joins RTRFM’s Chris Wright on Giant Steps to talk about his latest creative projects involving hip-hop incantations, monthly late-night gigs with local band The Fix at the Ellington Jazz Club, as well as discussing Chris Foster‘s upcoming album called In Motion to be released in late October.
