Birrundudu Drawings

In 1945, sixteen Aboriginal men working at Birrundudu station created 810 crayon drawings. Using this unfamiliar medium, the men documented their extensive knowledge of Country, ancestral creation, history, and ceremonies of the region. A new exhibition at UWA’s Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery called “Birrundudu Drawings” will showcase over 100 of these works on paper, none of which have been exhibited before. “Birrundudu Drawings” is running from the 14th of February until the 4th of April.

Bec Bowman chats with Lee Kinsella.
