This week on Bookclub Danielle Raffaele spoke with debut author Thomas Vowles about his novel Our New Gods.

The book follows Ash who has recently arrived in Melbourne from Perth and fallen in love with his charismatic new friend, James.

After witnessing a disturbing altercation at a party, Ash suspects that James’ mysterious boyfriend is hiding a sinister side. Is he dangerous? Or is Ash’s jealousy fuelling paranoid delusions?

Danielle caught up with Tom to hear his reflections on the writing process post-publication, the meaning behind the title and how he went about subverting the psychological thriller by incorporating queer perspectives.
