Bookclub with Danielle Raffaele

Gamilaroi author Luke Patterson is part of a growing cohort of authors subverting poetry’s expectations in his debut collection A Savage Turn by combining critical theory, post-colonial irony and western folklore to shine a light on our dark colonial history.

It’s a searing debut taking readers to forest billabongs, prisons and into the colonial nightmares of the not so distant past.

RTRFMs Danielle Raffaele spoke with Luke for Bookclub on Breakfast and started by asking what attracts him to poetry.

A Savage Turn is published by Magabala Books.
