Bookclub with Danielle Raffaele

Danielle Raffaele and Pam Boland reunite after a long weekend with some excellent reads they’ve been cosying up with, including Big Swiss by Jen Beagin and Flashlight by Susan Choi.

Not before discussing a story that’s been making waves across the Australian literary landscape; the pulping of 5000 copies of forthcoming children’s novel Bila by Wirruduri poet Jazz Money over comments by the book’s illustrator Matt Chun.

Then, Danielle reviews the fourth novel by Sophie Mackintosh called Permanence. The book follows Clara and Francis, a couple who for months have been escaping to a world of impermanence where adulterers can live without consequence. However, when cracks start to show in their relationship and the universe they temporarily occupy, they have to ask themselves how far they would go to be together.
