Perth Festival 2023: Brooke Blurton and the Big Love that defines her life

Noongar, Yamatji woman Brooke Blurton set tongues wagging and hearts ablaze when she appeared on Australian television as the first Indigenous and bisexual Bachelorette, making men and women alike fall head over heels.

But this is just one tiny part of the Brooke Blurton story as we discover in her debut memoir Big Love – a book about reclaiming her country, her culture and her people in a life fraught with poverty, mental illness and intergeneration trauma.

Brooke yarned with RTRFMs Danielle Raffaele ahead of her appearance at Perth Festival Literature and Ideas at Fremantle Arts Centre.

She started by asking what it feels like to release her first book into the world.
