Bush class is in session! Alton Walley on children’s book Djeran Djerup

In the season of Djeren, Mika and her little brother Meero are moving camp with their family. As they travel inland, they come to realise they have a lot to learn and overcome if they’re going to keep up with the wonders of their culture!

Djeren Djerup: Mika and Meero is a children’s book by educator and storyteller Alton Walley championing the beauty of getting out on boodjar and exploring the land you live on.

Pam Boland spoke with Alton for Breakfast about the inspiration behind the book, the importance of getting off screen and out in nature and how we can all stay more connected to the land we live on.
