Cale Sexton Rings the Bell with Sustain

In 2019 Naarm based musician Cale Sexton was approached to perform at the Federation Bells at Birrarung Marr – he took the towering chimes and made them his own, incorporating a pastiche of drum machines and synthesisers.

The resulting set became Sustain, Sexton’s latest release out on Heavy Machinery Records. He spoke Drivetime’s Matt Ferret about the album, some of Cale’s more club-focussed releases and the process behind the record.
