Circular Economies

The Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) is preparing to open Circular Economies, the fourth and final exhibition in its program for the year.

Developed in partnership with SPACED, the exhibition brings together new commissions by artists Tarsh Bates and Susan Hauri-Downing, House of Natural Fiber, Ilona McGuire and Zali Morgan, and Loren Kronemyer and Linda Tegg.

The works have emerged from an extended series of artist residencies across regional Western Australia, with artists working alongside communities in Beverley, Narrogin, Carnamah, Esperance and Carnarvon.

Spanning photography, video, textiles, sound and installation, Circular Economies explores what can happen when artistic practice connects with local knowledge, people and place.

Danae Gibson chats with PICA curator Miranda Johnson.
