Clint and Kylie Bracknell’s new book, ‘Shakespeare on the Noongar Stage: Language Revival and Hectate’.

Clint Bracknell is a Noongar song-maker and Professor of Music at the UWA. Kylie Bracknell is an actor, director, and writer responsible for the production of Hecate.

Hecate is the first adaptation of a complete Shakespeare play in one Aboriginal language of Australia. Performed entirely in Noongar language, this retelling of a well-known yarn about a Scottish king is a landmark work of both theatre and language restoration.

The production of Hecate is brought to life in ‘Shakespeare on the Noongar Stage‘ as an accessible book designed to inspire language recovery and restoration.

Shakespeare on the Noongar Stageauthors, Clint and Kylie Bracknell join Bec Bowman on Artbeat to talk more on the book. Published by Upswell.
