Danny Barwick’s Upcoming Album ‘Solace’

Earlier this year, Boorloo-born producer/composer/jazz drummer Danny Barwick spoke to Bec on Artbeat about his record ‘Seen’, which was released in January. Now fans of ambient sounds and liminal jazz can get excited for MORE!

Danny described that this new album ‘Solace’ is specifically for people drawn to jazz instruments, but who might find jazz a bit too overwhelming/frantic… it’s not cool jazz, it’s not elevator music, it’s something fresh and different! Danny’s new works are loosely inspired by his 12 months spent in Montreal working with a Neuroscience PhD student on the effectiveness of soothing frequencies. The study concluded that there’s no magic frequency… it changes for people from day-to-day, even hour-to-hour. This research changed the way Danny understood his sound and his album ‘Seen’ (not just sonically but also the backstory behind the record) was very much inspired by his time in Montreal, as many listeners would attest.

Danny was releasing a new fragment from the new record every week leading up to September. A fragment of ‘Home’ was released at the beginning of July and slowly the puzzle pieces began to come together. Another single from the record, ‘Coalesce’, became available for streaming on Tuesday 8 September. The full album ‘Solace’ releases on the 22nd of September.
