DeeDee Noon is toying with photography in new art exhibition

What actually is a toy? With a bit of imagination anything can be a toy, and with the same imagination, anything can be a weapon.

Shining a very timely light onto the space between the fun of play and the tragedy of war is an exhibition by ECU PhD candidate, Deedee Noon, titled ‘Toying with Photography: F-Stop Troop’.

Her artwork queries the ways in which contemporary society defines ‘the toy’ and how our view of toys has changed over time. DeeDee Noon joined Jeff Bullen to talk about Barbie, photography and all things marketing.

Toying with Photography shows at North Metropolitan TAFE’s Shopfront Gallery, 149 Beaufort Street, Northbridge, on 18 July and runs until 5 August, from Tuesday to Saturday, 11 am – 6.30 pm.
