Dr Rebecca Allen – NASA Nuclear Reactors on the Moon

Earlier this month it was revealed that the US government and NASA were fast tracking plans to build a nuclear reactor on the moon.

These plans come after it was reported earlier in the year that China had similar ambitions already in place to support plans for an international lunar research station. These ambitions seem to be setting up a whole new space race between the two nations, with a goal of establishing a reactor within the next 5 to 10 years.

To discuss these plans further and the concerns that come with them, On the Record’s Fiona Bartholomaeus was joined by Dr. Rebecca Allen, co-director of the Space Technology and Industry Institute at Swinburne University.
